Buildings and Facilities

There are two buildings and the grounds at Christ College that can be used for a service and reception.

The Temple

The temple is a unique space designed to marry heaven and earth, spirit and matter, the masculine and the feminine. It is a space that stands free from any religion or philosophy and offers any person(s) from any background a place where they can connect with their essential nature, connect with each other and find true meaning in their lives.

Long Bay House

This area is a teaching and living space. It includes a fully functional kitchen, toilet and shower facilities, and an open plan room in which meetings and gatherings can be held. The kitchen has cooking and utilities (cutlery, cups etc) to cater for up to 25 people. There is seating and tables for up to 25 people also.

The Grounds

There are spaces (especially in front of the temple) where an outside service could be held.

The Possibilities

There are many possibilities at Christ College to create a wedding. Below are three outlines that could be altered to suit your needs.

Option 1) an outside service - The backdrop of the Akaroa harbor and the temple would make a perfect place for an outdoor wedding.

Option 2) a service in the temple – The temple is a sacred space and talks constantly of marriage. It is the perfect place to conduct a small ceremony.

Option 3) a reception in Long Bay House – Long Bay House could be used to house a small reception of up to 25 people. All the facilities of the space could be utilized for this occasion.

Costs and Services

Below are the basic costs for the venue and facilities at Christ College.

Option 1) an outside service – $ 200

Option 2) a service in the temple – $ 300

Option 3) a reception in Long Bay House – $ 300

For each of these options Long Bay House is available to use for planning, setout, storage, toilet facilities and gathering of people.

We will ensure that the spaces and grounds are tidy. We also will provide someone to be present during the service to help with unlocking the buildings, making sure that everything is in running order and helping to move furniture and equipment.

Payment of the Venue hire fee is required to secure your desired date. This payment also signifies your agreement to the terms and conditions specified in this pack. Bring your own alcohol is allowed in moderation.

Time

The venue hire includes the use of the facilities for the entire day (up until 7:00pm for a service and 12:00 midnight for a reception). If the space is not being used the previous day, then preparations and setup could be done during this time.

The Temple

The temple is a silent and sacred space and we ask that you respect this. Please feel free to have flowers and signings in the foyer, but keep the temple free from any objects. For the duration of the service it is possible that you talk in the temple space so that the marriage can be achieved.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Everyone that visits Christ College contributes something to the growth of it. We ask that you take all rubbish with you and clean the facilities to a better standard than they were before you arrived. There is power in both Long Bay House and the Temple.

Finally, we wish you love and light in your wedding and your continued life together.
